Mother's Day

So my third Mother's day will be this Sunday! It is very hard for me to believe that our baby will be 3 on her birthday in August. I just wanted to openly thank God for giving me Lacy. I have never felt such joy as I did the day I found out I was pregnant. Brad and I had wanted a baby and almost gave up hope and then I found out I was pregnant. The Lord never lets us down. Sometimes he doesnt answer our prayers in the way or time we want, but he is always in control! Thank you Lord for giving me Lacy and allowing me to see, through her, how awesome you are! I also want to say a big Thank You to my mom! Thank you for putting up with all my hard headedness as a child, teenager, and young adult! Thank you for always being there no matter what time of day it was or what was going on at work to always listen to what I had on my mind. Thank you for being my Mom but most importantly Thank you for being my best friend. I love you and cherish you more than you will ever know!
I hope all you Mother's have a wonderful day on Sunday and remember to be Thankful that you are a Mother!
God Bless!

Spring is in the Air

Well, it has been a while since I last posted. The Burns' have been very busy creatures. Brad had foot surgury almost two weeks ago to permanently remove an ingrown toenail that has plagued him for years. He is still having issues with it and limping a little. He goes back to the pediatrist on Monday.

Miss Lacy Burns is now sleeping in a new big girl twin bed!! Yes! She got to where she would not sleep the entire night in her toddler bed anymore. I can't blame her, that bed did not seem to be that comfortable.

We also went to the St Paddy parade this past weekend. I do think it is a lot different than it use to be. It will probably be a few years before I go back. I spent most of my time trying to find a potty for Miss Lacy to use.

Now we are gearing up for the Easter Bunny to come visit us in a couple of weeks.
Hope those who read this are all in good health and Blessed!

Glad This Weekend Is Over

sick Pictures, Images and Photos

Well, I think its safe to say I had a not so good weekend. Why you ask? Well, on Thursday I had to have two of my three wisdom teeth removed...yes I have caught some smack talk about how me having only three wisdom teeth explains everything. Hahaha :o)
Brad took me to have those out Thursday afternoon. I heard every horror story known to man. As of right this minute, I have not had one little problem with the extraction.(I am knocking on wood)
However, Thursday night my throat started hurting. I thought maybe it had something to do with my procedure. WRONG. I sounded like a frog crawled in my throat and was trying to die inside of it. I figured it would just get better if I took some over the counter drugs. Wrong. Saturday morning, I called Momma who had been keeping Lacy so I could recoup from the wisdom teeth removal. She told me to take my rear end on up to the MEA and get seen and she would keep Lacy one more day. After sitting in the MEA for almost 2 hours, I got sent back to another waiting area! Oh what joy! I finally go to a room and the doctor came in and wanted to do a strep test. Okay, that's fine. Forty minutes later, the doctor comes in and asks me if I had a nurse come in and swab my throat...after I tell him a big fat no, a nurse comes in swabs my throat and is very apologetic. Long story short..no strep and its bronchitis. After sitting there for almost 4 hours, I take my prescription to Kroger.
Also during all this time, Lacy has started riding her tricycle that is at my parents house. My poor mother has to go to the bathroom so she tells Lacy to go see Papaw. Apparently Lacy didn't want to go to see Papaw so she decided being the daredevil that she is, she would just ride the bike down to the bathroom regardless that there are stairs. Poor mom could not even pee because Lacy wrecked and landed on top of the bike. Thankfully Lacy was not hurt just upset that her attempt failed. I am not surprised, I have caught her before on her tricycle at my parents contemplating this adventure. She knows no fear and Brad and I figure its only a matter of time before we visit our local ER.
Well, she must have been reliving this event early this morning, because she woke up around 5:30am crying and telling me she fell off her bike.
So I am hoping this week is event and sickness free. Hope all is well with everyone!

Fireproof

For Valentine's Day, Brad and I went with some of his coworkers and their wives to a local church, Lakeshore, to have a steak dinner and to watch Fireproof. If you are married and have not seen the movie, we highly recommend it! It was honestly one of the best films I have seen in a long time. It goes to show that they can make a quality movie without any sexual references or foul language.
There are too many couples today getting married and divorced for the wrong reasons and this movie helps to point that out. Marriage is tough. This movie helps to point out the difficulties all couples face. Not a single person left Saturday night with a dry eye, Brad and I included.

On another note, poor Brad has had a time with the crud. He caught the strep from Lacy and had to get a shot on Thursday. Saturday he was still feeling awful, so he went back to MEA and he found out that the strep was gone but he now had an Upper Respiratory Infection. He is on various forms of cough suppressants.

Hope everyone had a great Valentine's Day and everyone is all in good health.
Be Blessed.

Strep

Well I had big plans for my little family this weekend. I always try to plan a family activity on Brad's weekends off. She doesnt see alot of him on the weekends he works so in my mind this is a way to make up for it. We were going to take her to her first movie, Hotel for Dogs. However, she started throwing up Friday night until 5am Saturday morning. She also kept telling us she had a booboo on her throat. We went on and took her and she has strep throat. I made the call to give her a shot instead of medicine. I know some people are against shots but I wanted her to feel better a.s.a.p.. It breaks my heart when my baby tells me that she doesnt feel good. Her poor father is terrified of needles, so I held her down while she got the shot..it broke my heart. I think she is feeling some better today. I took my time with her this morning, letting her sleep in. She is still coughing up some mucus but at least she is not throwing up anymore.
Since we could not take her to the movies, her father went to Blockbuster and rented her Wall-E. About an hour into it, she told us good night and went to her bed(which was still in our room from the other night). So Brad and I watched it..the only thing I did not like about the movie was the fact that his sidekick is a Roach...and anyone who knows me knows how I feel about those.
Hope everyone has a good week and stays well, it seem everyone is cathing something.

Big Girls Don't Cry!

Well the day has finally come, Lacy Ree Burns is now a BIG girl. I can honestly say this because she is potty trained and has been for the months. About two weeks ago, her Momma made her give up the pacy. Brad and I really thought this was going to be a big struggle, but it wasn't; not at all. She didn't even cry. I simply explained that now that she was a big girl, she did not need a pacy anymore. If she wanted to keep it she was going to be a baby. There has been no looking back since. Yeah!
Valentine's day is fast approaching. I do believe that it is a "marketed" holiday. You should show your spouse you love them everyday, not just one day a year. Don't get me wrong, I use to LOVE to get flowers...now I go by the philosophy that I have to pay for those now as well! LOL
Brad and I are going to a local church to have a steak dinner and watch the movie "Fireproof". I am excited. We are going with two other officers that work with Brad and their wives. I have heard awesome things about this movie. It is said to have made couples wake up regarding their marriage.
Well I hope everyone is having a great week!

Prayer Request

I am sure most of you have heard, Gene Mashburn's home burned down. Gene has been Brad's Lt at Clinton since he moved over there from Jackson. I am still in such shock for them. Brad and I had date night on Friday and his cell phone kept buzzing so he finally looked and found out about Gene's home. Thankfully no one was hurt, but the house is a total loss. I just can not imagine what they must be going through. It has almost been a year since Mallory had to have her brain surgury and now this. Please pray for them during this difficult time. I believe from what Gene has told Brad they are staying in a Hotel in Clinton right now.

On a lighter note, we went to Amerigos after church yesterday. As always, Ms Molly(Lacy's Sunday School Teacher) had put her work in her backpack. This paticular Sunday was a fold up flap sheet with a picture of Jesus. On our way to the table she saw this picture of Jesus and wanted it. When our food came, I had ordered Lacy Fettucini, I noticed she was laying pieces of it by the picture. I asked her what she was doing and she told me she was giving some to Jesus. I told her that was nice and she informed me that Jesus Loves Her. Is that not the most precious thing ever?! I just had to share. Hope everyone is well and has a Blessed week.
